Even before the topic of accessible and affordable health care (coined ObamaCare) became a hot topic in the US, a strong predictor of important health outcomes which once were considered subjective are being embraced by health care professionals across the country. There have been many attempts to uncover the correlates and factors of certain illnesses and disease. Many list stress, peace of mind, freedom, relationships, active listening and communication as factors related to an individual or family’s health. Each of these factors are elements of conciliation.

Did you know? Self-Determination, the foundation of mediation is also the second principle of Kwanzaa! Kujichagulia (pronounced- coo-gee-cha-goo-lee-yah) is annually celebrated on December 27th and is Swahili for Self-Determination. Kwanzaa is a holiday celebrated mainly by African- Americans to embrace culture, strength, unity, community and solutions to problems affecting (but not limited to) people of color around the world. The affirmation goes: To define ourselves, name ourselves and speak for ourselves, instead of being defined, names and spoken for by others.
